Well, Nick said yesterday that he almost wants to vote straight republican. If every seat was filled with them, we can get it all over with and plunge into the darkest depth now rather than drag it all out. At least then we'd know there would have to be a sunrise.

It's pretty close to that. As most of you know by now the Republicans took the Senate. They already had the House and the Governor seats. So we have a Republican congress, a Republican president and a conservative Supreme Court. Fun, fun, fun.

I checked out the Ohio 17th district congressional race. James Traficant - from jail - received 15% of the vote. I wanted to cry. So we at least know that 15% of the population of the 17th district are complete dipshits. The Republican won the race, so we know the dipshit percentage is actually much higher. It's probably been 50 years since a Republican held that seat.

So here we go - as of this morning, the Balance of Power:

The House

Republicans 226
Democrats 204

The Senate

Republicans 51
Democrats 46

Governors

Republicans 26
Democrats 19

I know. I was so pissed when I found out those numbers this morning. The Hell???

Goes to show one of the powers of the Republican party though - they can get people out to vote. Which is always the catch.

Still - god damn it! I don't want to have to do the I, Claudius strategy of letting it all hatch out just so we can get these assholes out of office.

Nick called it correctly. I have many friends depressed by the results and I just reassure them that this county we live in probably went against the tide of the rest of this state (which is generally the case most of the time).

and no body voted. So few people voted. I could scream.

They said Bush made history with his massive campaigning for the GOP. And let's face it, who's more likely to be apathetic, Republican voters or Democrat voters? Dems, of course. And what big wig could campaign for them? Clinton? Christ. There's Jimmy Carter, but then how impressive is the endorsement of a one timer? And god, he's got the Nobel Peace Prize, we're in war time, we don't need no peacenik telling us how to vote!

Scary thing, the Dems were right - don't support the war and they won't get elected. Though it didn't matter - everyone knows that it's better to have Republicans in power during wartime because their foriegn policy is stronger. =P Dems during good times, GOP during bad times. Hello? Helloooooooo????

We're in for a dark, dark ride. . .

Re: they gave an election...

I can't find the percentage of voters here, but I heard this morning on the radio something 69% turn out in Colorado. That's pretty good - anything over 50% is pretty amazing.

Do you know the national statistic? I can't seem to find it =P

As I said in my own post this morning, Georgia elected its first Republican governor in 130 YEARS!!!!!

To me, seems like Democrats have really been f'in up lately and that they need a bigwig to lead them. Like somebody with charisma! And I don't mean Clinton! Or Gore! Uck.
