I owe some of you mail, and I apologize for my tardiness, but blizzards and airports and family add up to stress and I set the computer aside for a time to deal with the insanity that was the last few weeks of 2006. That loud crashing sound heard a few days ago, by the way, was the end of 2006.

I'm setting 2006 aside for now, as I believe that the suckage has ended. 2007 is going to be spectacular. Despite Pat Robertson's prediction of mass destruction, I think it's going to be a good one for me. Like a Star Trek movie, the odd ones are the good ones. Though now that I think about it, 2001 leaned more in Robertson's direction, so I guess we'll see. Still, I got my DU job that year and for the next two years I actually liked it.

So far in 2007; I got a call for a job interview; insanely discounted airfare for a vacation in April; and all the extra vacation time I had to use because of the blizzard back (though hopefully if I get a new job that won't matter). Not too bad for a start. It feels good in a way I can't really describe. When I returned from Ohio I had this strange feeling of euphoria as I landed. Typically I'm just depressed when I fly. Considering the stress of flying this time around, I expected to be a basketcase until maybe after I was home for a week - rocking myself back and forth in a corner and mumbling something about not having tread. But no. I really felt good about myself. It was like all the bad had just washed away.

The last day of the year was wonderful. The snow was cleared off the main streets, so I went with Lisa for dinner and the symphony downtown (theme was A Night in Vienna - lots of Mozart, Strouss and waltzes), then fireworks followed. It couldn't be more perfect. The next day I made the traditional pork ribs with sauer kraut - came out beautiful, the meat just fell off the bone. I wrote out some new years resolutions and posted them to the wall (Martin Luther style of reform -- few less points though and subject to amending as I just thought of a few more things that should be there).

It's going to be good. I can feel it.

Hope you all have a wonderful New Year!
