I have no idea why they started stating that specifically now. It used to be just slash and RPS. *shrug* I guess to warn those that aren't into it so there's no bickering.
I think I'm like you. I read/write so little slash or fanfic nowadays (except for Wraeththu, that is) that it's hard for me to even answer much of this survey. Since I don't do anime, manga or watch TV shows or read Harry Potter, there doesn't seem like many things I would be interested in. Instead, I am reading Ursula Le Guin and Octavia Butler and other books that I wish were popular fanfic but aren't.
Yeah, there are a couple books and shows that I wish had a fanbase, but don't. I'd really love to write for Boston Legal, but my knowledge of law is non-existent and most of the things I love are the stranges cases that crop up in the stories and the witty way their handled. So my ineptitude at writing such things keeps me away.
Maybe Lost is a good potential. But I think I need a first season under the belt before I'm comfortable enough to write it. We'll see. But no anime or more popular fandoms have caught my eye in a long, long time. If I write more, I think it will be in old stuff I happen to pick up again. Maybe.
I remember "Stone of Night" and I LOVED it! But I agree that "Dulce et Decorum Est" is your best. That resonates in my mind to this day, like the tolling of some ponderous kickass bell. :)
You know zafiro_v sent me a copy of Stone of Night about a year ago and I laughed and laughed over how bad a writer I was. It was good though, as I learned how far I'd come since then *g*
Dulce - I wish I would have written that about a year after I did - I think I developed the skills I needed to really do a good job of it. It's a fic that deserved a little better - more maturity I think.
On the contrary, I went back recently and read the last few chapters of Devil's Minion that I wrote and I was astounded. Gee, I CAN write when I put my little mind to it! Now I just need inspired again as all I write is crappy again.
Devil's Minion was great :) It was one of those many stories people were writing that never got finished though, right? Selene was writing a story that was KILLING me, for example, and so was Becky and... *SIGH* Anyway, I remember Devil's Minion ;)
