The Day After Tomorrow is opening today and the bruhaha over "This is liberal insanity at it's WORST!" and "No it isn't you Bush-loving monkey whore!" is starting to annoy me.

Actually, we can blame the Bush administration for taking what was to be a stupid disaster film of special effects fun and turning it into a political playground. The Bush administration's been ape shit over this release for months now. Rush Limbaugh is out there talking about the movie as though it's Kerry's platform. Why? It was written by Art Bell, you asshole! Only the conspiracy minded lunatics were looking to this film as being scientifically accurate and now the whole blazing planet is locked in a moronic battle of name calling.

Global Warming = Real Complex Issue
The Day After Tomorrow = Movie

It's like watching Troy right before your Greek Mythology test and thinking your going to pass. Only way you're getting any accuracy is if they tattooed the Illiad on Brad Pitt's pecs.

Watched Return of the King again the other night and decided that Theodon of Rohan is hot. Bernard Hill, not as hot (but I love him still).

And now . . . For those of you who don't like watching violent movies. If you see the title Texas Chainsaw Massacre, you can go ahead and assume this movie is not for you.

And I mention this after a co-worker came down today to chat and told me with disgust that she saw this movie last week and it was JUST THE GORIEST MOVIE EVER! And then proceeded to tell me that there was no reason for that sort of violence in a movie. Now, I don't typically like gore fest movies, but when I see the words "Texas", "chainsaw" and "massacre" in a title, frankly any one or combination of the words would turn me off to seeing it (Those of you living in Texas, no offense to the state. I just think the Bush family and it's just guilt by association. Sorry).

I thought Theodone was a very attractive middle aged man myself :)

Re Massacrew, I never saw the recent version, but I followed all the brouhaha when Roger Ebert gave it either a 0 or 1 star rating. His review was a long discussion of the reasons why the particular sort of violence and approach in that movie really made it a hunk of crap, as opposed to some other violent movies where you feel there is some point to it (even if the point is to say that there's no point). Ah, well, don't plan on seeing that.
