Amazing what you find when you plug things into search engines and the hit "go". For instance, today I went to the BBC online site and typed in the key words: texas, taleban and turned up 208 pages of info. Imagine that.
It would seem that in 1997, Taleban officials were invited to Texas for talks on creating a oil pipeline though Afghanistan to India. The players envolved were ENRON, UNOCAL (big energy company), and the Haliburton Corporation (a pipeline services vendor based in Texas with Dick Cheney then as CEO). Not a single US maintstream news media covered this story. Here are a few articles:
Taleban in Texas for talks on gas pipeline in Afghanistan
A Creeping Collapse in Credibility at the White House: From ENRON Entanglements to UNOCAL Bringing the Taliban to Texas and Controlling Afghanistan
Oil barons court Taliban in Texas (fact is far stranger than fiction)
Check out Google Key Word Search: Texas, Taleban for more sources.
