TTT - No Spoilers

Finally saw The Two Towers last night. Loved it. Though I have to admit, this movie felt like three hours, where as I didn't feel that way with FotR. It was also exhausting. I felt hit by a Mac truck when it was over, as did my friends. Though I suppose it being the beginning of the final battle between good and evil, one might tend to get a little tired.

Slashables: Frodo and Sam are the runaway prize. I know it's canon, but it doesn't hit home till you see the look on Elijah Woods' face at the end of the movie. Damn. Legolas and Arogorn are second place, but Orlando Bloom just doesn't put enough feeling into it. Still don't buy Gimli and Legolas as anything more that antagonistic friends engaging in anything more than good natured ribbing. Maybe a dwarf tossing contest between Arogorn and Legolas in the future?

Eowyn - wasn't her role bigger in the book? I remember some big heroic act from her - but it's been about 17 years since I read the books.

I remember thinking TTT was the most depressing of the books. Though it's certainly in the movie, Frodo's depression, weariness and plain need to give up hit me far stronger in the book.

So I can cross TTT off the to-do list for the weekend. That's about the only thing so far. I"m looking intently at laundry and I'll stop off at the grocery store - so that's two more things. Hopefully I'll get to some of the rest. . .

Wow - that's funny. *g* I really like TTT movie much better thatn FoTR! This one, for me, just flies by - and I've seen it several times. I don't get bored with it. The first one, I watched several times also, but it did get rather tedious in parts.

I still think Legolas/Gimli is my OTP! ;)

And, Eowyn gets lots of screen time in the next movie. (Saw an interview with her and Viggo not too long ago!)

Since you mention "Slashables," I thought I'd ask if your read Cesare's really cool musings of LotR slash. That is one thoughtful little piece. I'm not into LotR slash myself but I seem to be running into many who are (my friends in Germany sooooo are!) and I myself couldn't keep thinking about Frodo/Sam (esp. in the last scene) so it was great to see some real thought put into the topic.

I saw it for the second time yesterday and enjoyed it again! (The first time I was way to exited to absorb everything.) The little things moved me; like the beauty of the horse they picked for Shadowfax (all the little girls in the audience just gasped - ah yes, I remember the horse love) and how the blended the voices of Ian and Christopher Lee so you couldn't tell at first which white wizard you were seeing the back of and different characteristics of the Ents.

Lots of cool stuff.

As for slashables, I think Merry and Pippin were giving Sam and Frodo a run for their money. And Aragorn? Who wasn't in love with him in this movie? :0) Even "that Gay Elf" (tm my Mom) Haldir seemed to be having moments with him. Hee!
