feeling lost today. . .
1. What was your biggest accomplishment this year?
The discovery that after ten years of studying philosophy, I no longer find it worth my time.
2. What was your biggest disappointment?
The discovery that after ten years of studying philosophy, I no longer find it worth my time.
3. Will you be making any New Year's resolutions?
Yes. Lose weight. Get papers done. Make headway on thesis. Change mindset so that these will actually get acomplished.
4. Where will you be at midnight? Do you wish you could be somewhere else?
Out to dinner first, then most likely I'll be in my home at midnight. That's just fine. Preparations have been made.
5. Aside from (possibly) staying up late, do you have any other New Year's traditions?
In the past it typically involved a snow war and running amuck in the woods with friends. Not so much now since I moved to Denver.

Studying can always change directions. I won't say 'look at me', cuz my turn was too drastic to be a good example, but look at Chad (a guy from US) who's got 4 Masters in Comparative Literature, Classics, Latin and Archeology. Diversity may enrich your philosophical background.

As for degrees, I've got them in anthropology, philosphy and I'm working on the masters in religious studies - but I've always gone back to philosophy. I feel at home with it. But for the last few years it's just been irritating me. I've just decided that it's not worth thinking about anymore. There are a couple of philosophers that feel that the field is dead and have moved on to study other things in the humanities. I kinda feel like them now.
