Woke up this morning to 5 inches of Christmas snow! It's the wet snow-ball-packing-snowman-building type, rather than Colorado's can't-do-anything-with-it-but-scream-as-you-crash type snow.

Happiness.

The neighbor was out this morning cleaning my dad's driveway because dad's got a bum wrist now. Nice to see people looking out for each other =)

My sister was missing an alto, so she coerced me into singing Midnight Mass with her choir last night. It was fun. At the end she played an impossible Toccata on the pipe organ and got a standing ovation.

Saw [livejournal.com profile] geckodru and Kris last night. They brought me calligraphy and shortbread. Then we drove all over hill and dale looking for a place that was open and served coffee. Only Dennys was open after 6. Came back to watch my sister's kids open gifts. Michael got this robot from my mom that plays dramatic music and announces that it is the destroyer. I was apalled at first, but then [livejournal.com profile] geckodru made it better by explaining it was a dancing Shiva robot. In that context, it seemed okay. Though I can't get that music out of my head.

My 20 month old niece, Mary, seemed pissed that her Raggedy Ann doll did not announce that it too was a destroyer. Maybe a Kali to Michael's Shiva?

Tommy seemed content with his spinning paint set.

In the paper this morning the top two stories shared the headline, split down the middle on the front page. On the left, an interview with Santa, while on the right, North Korea claims US will instigate a nuclear war.

Can't Santa do anything about that?

Merry Christmas everyone!

Music

Your sister's an organist and you never told me! Was that the Widor Tocatta she played? Heh! She needs rhinestones on the heels of her organ shoes if she's gonna play that! Tell her hi from Virgil Fox's goddaughter. (moi) (he was a concert organist and friend of my family)

Re: Music

My sister is actually a classical pianist, but she's got a job playing the pipe organ and leading the choir for a Catholic church. She is thinking about going back and getting a masters degree in organ though - she loves playing it. And I guess she's next in line to take over the position at the Cathedral if the current guy there ever leaves. Sorry, I thought I mentioned the classical pianist part before =/

And yeah, it was the Windor Toccata *g* She didn't have rhinestones on, but her 4 year old son bought her the worlds most garrish broach that might make up for it *g*

*HUGS*

Merry Christmas!

Re: Music

I grew up surrounded by musicians, and it always perks me up to hear about people working in the arts.

That's just wonderderful that she's thinking of getting her Masters. =) Good luck to her!

I always loved pipeorgan. My hubby used to play. I have a 2 manuel reed organ in my family room, too. LOL! I haven't played it in years because the motor is shot and I'm afraid of an electrical fire!

yup, i'm caught in the middle of a snowstorm over here in massachusets right now. no idea how much is out there, since the snow started around 3:45 and it gets dark around 4:10 :) i suspect the driveway will need uncovering tomorrow morning, with 10+ inches or thereabouts.

saturday i go back to georgia, where there will be no white stuff.
