And to top off how great my week has been, my doc tells me I've got pneumonia. Was feeling sick for the past 2 weeks with the ever morphing mystery ailment. First it's a cold, then it's a allergy attack, then it's a sinus infection. Now it's pneumonia. Turns out my allergy meds may have brought on the pneumonia. Woohoo! Killer cures, gotta love them. It's 11pm and I can't sleep from my heart-racing meds, so I'm listening to Neil Young's new anti-war CD, which is actually the real reason I'm writing.
Review: Neil Young's Living with War
I'm not a huge fan of Neil Young, but I like him well enough. And hey, who doesn't love Heart of Gold? I need to give kudos where kudos are due. He's the first artist to dedicate an entire CD to the anti-war movement. Sure Green Day and Pink threw their contribution into the arena before Neil, but Neil made an entire album for the cause.
If your looking for poetry, metaphor, and answers blowing in the wind, this aint the CD for you. It's total anvils all the way. We've got songs like "Let's Impeach Bush" and "Shock and Awe." They're not bad, some are actually quite good. But they're more like anthems you expect to be led by Cindy Sheehan on the White House lawn come this Fourth of July. Each song comes with a backup choir made to get you fired up and ready to march. I can't say I'd recommend this CD for the sheer love of music, but you might want to get it if you're planning a rally or just want a historical marker to remember the time America totally lost it's collective mind.
