Interview last night, I think, went well. The person I'd work for is the athletics director for compliance. He makes sure all the students and coaches are kosher with NCAA I regulations. And then there'd be maybe three other directors giving me occasional work. He said they received about 45 resumés and that they've narrowed the field to six candidates for phone interviews this week. They'll narrow that down to three and call us for walk-in interviews next week.

At this point, even if I don't get the job, I at least know that my resumé stands out. That's a comforting thought. Thanks for all the well-wishes sent my way - I really appreciate the good vibes :)

UPDATE: I was just called for a walk-in interview scheduled for next Tuesday! Rock on!

Meanwhile, Our MCIS academic advisor abruptly quit. I can't say I blame her. She's been doing the job of the director, cleaning up all his disasterous messes, begging the deans to hear her out about how bad the situation has gotten - documenting how the students are suffering at the hands of the director. He's killing the program, there's no doubt in my mind about that. I've written here how many problems our office has with the man. On top of that, they abruptly changed her job duties. She's now to work as a recruiter as well as an advisor. How they expect her to go out and recruit as well as advise students when she's already booked solid each week is beyond me. And apparently it's beyond her as well. On Monday she was called into a meeting with the dean and he reprimanded her for having a bad attitude. She took Tuesday and Wednesday off, physically ill over it. And Thursday she walked in and and told everyone she was leaving. She looks horrible. She's a very pretty woman, and the past few months she's looked as though she has the plague. Face a pasty white, circles under her eyes, always ill... I will miss her greatly, but she needed to get out for her own health.

So do I.

The people with the gold stars on their forehead were selected to take over new positions. Instead of posting internally so that everyone here could apply to those postions, upper management just gave the jobs to the yes-men. That's pretty much illegal. If they're not breaking HR law, then it's been done under the guise of organization restructuring. Still pretty shitty.

Hopefully this will all be over for me soon. When you wake up angry, are angry at work and then go to sleep angry, it's no longer worth it. My health in the past 6 months has been horrendous. Stress from this job has a LOT to do with it, I'm sure.

Okay, over the past few days I watched The Jungle Book and the Noam Chomsky/William F Buckley Jr. debates. Seemingly an odd viewing match, but I'm pretty sure that Shere Khan and William F. Buckly were separated at birth. I've never heard the word "nazi" sound so smooth and inviting before. What a master of misdirection by virtue of the melodic sound of his voice. You hardly notice that he never shuts up and talks over Noam. Though after about 10 minutes of him, the well trained will start to feel chills and take note that evil is in their midst.

This weekend - wanna see Young Adam, which has finally made it to the States! Can never get enough of derobed Ewan. Woohoo!
