1. Name the three movies that have frightened you the most. Feel free to explain why.
The Exorcist - because I was 14 when I first watched it on video. I was alone in the house and during the scariest scene the TV went to static. I freaked.
The Omen - the scene with the nanny hanging herself and the one where the man was decapitated by the glass sheet kinda stuck with me.
The Serpent and the Rainbow - Slave zombies. I can't remember now if it was based on Voudon or Sateria - but I know it was based on the true research of some anthropologist. Yeah, I know the movie was sensationalized and mostly wrong, but when you're 12 and hear "true story", it's all the scarier *g*
2. Do you have an irrational fear?
I have a fear of mirrors. My cousin Jessica told me the Bloody Mary story when I was around 7. I've never quite recovered.
3. What is the scariest book you have ever read?
The Shinning. Though the scariest scene from a book is from Salem's Lot. There's like a 5 page description of the little boys scratching on the window. Creepy.
4. Have you ever seen a film or read a book that frightened you so much you couldn't finish it?
No. I finally got through The Exorcist with my sister later.
5. Was there something that frightened you as a child that seems silly now? (For example, a weird shape outside your window, or a character in a movie.
A picture my mother has hanging in the hallway scared the hell out of me as a child. I still think it's freaky. It's of a man and his son during the colonial times. The man's eyes pierce right at you and he doesn't look happy. Of course no one looked happy back then - but I had this fear that if I passed by the picture when no one was around, the man's ghost would grab me.
6. Have you ever had any encounters with anything paranormal? Seen a ghost, used a Ouija board, had a precognitive dream?
Well, I lived in New Orleans for 2 years, so I saw a couple of things. To reinforce my fear of mirrors, when I was at the Bourbon Orleans helping my roommates with a tour one night, I was in the bathroom on the 3rd floor next to the ballroom. It was a windy day, so I was brushing the mega knots out of my hair, when I looked at the floral picture in back of me in the reflection of the mirror. I saw a woman in the refection of the glass on the picture. I've tried a few times to work out the logic, but I guess that would mean she was actually standing in front of me. I turned to look at the picture - nothing was there of course. So I ran out of the bathroom. Except then I remembered I forgot all the flyers for the tours in the bathroom. So I had to go back in and grab them. Once I worked up the courage t go back in - the flyers were strewn across the bathroom from one end to the other.
Then there was the time I was on the 7th floor of the Bourbon Orleans with my roommate and her tour when all three locked doors to the confrence rooms suddenly unlocked and sprang open.
Almost all the weird things I've seen have happened in that hotel.
7. If you made your own horror movie or wrote a horror story/novel, what would it be about?
George W. Bush
8. If you could be (or should I say had to be) any creature of the night (e.g., a vampire, a werewolf), what would you be?
Banshee. They have family ;)
9. If you could communicate in a direct way with one deceased person personally known to you, who would it be?
I'd really rather not. I'd prefer to believe they've gone on and aren't stuck on this plane.
10. If you could communicate in a direct way with one deceased person *not* personally known to you, who would it be?
You know, the more I'm thinking about this question, the more I think I really don't want to commune with the dead.
