Okay, this makes me proud to be an Ohioan. Makes up for all the Jim Trafficant nonsense over the summer:

Congressman Dennis J. Kucinich of Cleveland, Ohio
Leader of the House opposition to the resolution, Congressman Kucinich gave the following statement on the House floor October 10, 2002, during general debate on the war resolution.

Still concerned

Boy, didn't think people could do good speeches anymore!

You know what, though? It still seems like the media treast the whole war on Iraq as a done deal, pretty much following Bush's lead of "This IS going to happen" and treating opposition, from students or Congress or anyone, as something superfluous and irrelevent. Maybe I'm just sensitive, but that's the tone I detect.

Oh, I know! I don't think we're getting out of this war thing. But it's just people like this that are willing to stand up and say that's it's wrong and call the people to rally that give me hope there aren't just lemmings out there - there are people that think for themselves. Might not get us out of going to war - but it's the seeds for something big. Who knows, maybe in a decade there will be a revolution here and the people will take back the government.
