I read on babaca's lj that she was flamed for writing a non fanon pairing and for that she was told never to write again, EVER! God I wish these people would either seek help or find a new hobby. I've received a number of these types of letters and I know DaMoyre has too - people who can't stand the thought of Duo and Heero being split up, or Duo not being presented as a perfection incarnate. I really just don't get people that get upset that there are other people out there with different ideas from them. What the hell? I wish these people were just trollers with too much time on their hands - I can get that - but sadly, this is the GW community where immaturity has it's own category. And it's a big one.
Sorry babs =(
And now a survey from TBQ:
1. What's the strangest job you've ever had?
Working at a little girl's fine dress shop at the Riverwalk Mall in New Orleans. I felt like I was contributing to JonBenet Ramsey's murder with some of these dresses. These mothers would come in to buy pagent dresses for their little girls and it was the freakiest thing how these women acted. I had one mother walk in there with her little girl and an infant - the infant had chicken pox! The baby was crying and screaming and the woman was just concerned over getting a dress for her daughter's pagent. She was touching the baby and then picking up dresses. I told her that she had to leave the mall NOW or I was calling the security for a health threat. She was all pissed off and couldn't understand what the fuss was about. I felt horrible for her children.
That doesn't begin to touch on how freaky the people I worked for were. . .
2. Name one thing that worries you more than anything else.
That I won't finish my thesis for the masters. I've worked so hard and put myself in huge debt for this education - I worry that I'll poop out in the end and just not get the last bit of work done.
3. Do you have a list of things you'd like to do before you die? Have you done anything on that list? What things haven't you done?
I don't have a formal list, but there are things I would like to do. I really want to visit Ireland and Italy. I'd like to get paid to write - maybe not as a living, but I'd like to at least write one thing that earns me enough money to take a vacation or buy something big that I don't need but would like to have. I'd like to finally get a job that I really love and earns me enough money to be comfortable. I can pay all my bills right now and I have healthcare, but I'd love to get to the point where I can have the left over money to take a month long trip once a year.
4. If you could buy one thing advertised on an infomercial, what would it be?
The ginsu knives. I always wanted a set of those.
5. What's your favorite soup? Salad? Appetizer? Entree? Dessert?
Soup - Lobster Bisque. Salad - Catfish Ceasar (from the Alpine in New Orleans). Appetizer - Oysters Rockefeller. Entree - Sturgeon in wine sauce baked with truffles. Dessert - Hot fudge sundae with mint chocolate chip ice cream.
Hmmm. . . that last dessert there doesn't seem to go with the rest.
6. What's your biggest pet peeve?
People who don't bother to think for themselves, don't try and don't want to. I seriously can't cope with this type of person anymore.
7. What's one thing that always makes you laugh or smile
When someone remembers something I liked - music, a line from a movie, food, a simple gesture. Something little that just shows they were paying attention and remembered. I love that stuff when it comes out of the blue and it never fails to bring a smile across my face.
