to the advancement of rational thought in the United States of America. Actually, I think most nations could benefit by this, but you know - think globally act locally and all that.

Well, the Pledge of Allegiance thing is setting off a ton of sparks: CNN Pledge Article

If you go to the link, there's a niftly little history of the Pledge link that documents its evolution. Seems as though it was origianlly conceived by a Socialist and the "Under God" part had not been added till 1954 when the Communist fear was running amok (this is for the folks that think it's actually Political Correctness that's running amok and the Senator that believes the founding fathers are spinning in their graves.)

To read the words of George II on the Pledge of Allegiace, The Brat Queen found this AP article: Bush Criticizes Ruling on Pledge, Promises to Appoint Judges Who Would Rule Differently

Be afraid. Be very, very afraid. . .

And yet people love the guy! He gives Texas a bad name, I swear (uh-oh to GOD or the Universal GOD) that we're not all hicks.

If it helps, I know a lot of liberal Texans that I very much like =) But don't feel bad, Colorado voted for Bush and it wasn't close like it was in lots of other states. My other home, Ohio, voted for him too. *sigh*

What I loved was the part where Bush said it was a blow to American tradition and history. What the hell???? The "under God" part got added in 1954 - what about the 62 years of not saying the "under God" that came before? Isn't that more historically accurate? Bush is now pushing for America to recognize the role of God in our lives??? @_@ This really is scary.
