My friend Nick forwarded the video on this website to me. I didn't realize it was real at first, then I went to the website listed at the end.

Senator Ron Wyden's Healthy Americans Act

It calls for an end to wage slavery, as many American's stay at jobs they hate because they fear losing their health insurance. This is certainly my own case. I'd love to work as online adjunct faculty for schools so I can work from home, but adjuncts do not get health benefits. I can't purchase my own because the diabetes makes me uninsurable. So I'm stuck working a job I hate that most likely is contributing to my illness. I've actually considered quiting my job and going without insurance because I'm pretty sure if I can rest, relieve the stress and find time to prepare healthier foods and exercise more often, I'll be far better off than working 60+ hours a week with insurance. But it's a fucking stupid choice to have to make.

Check out the video. I personally love the scene of the employee photocopying his ass for his boss. Dude, I totally hear ya!

Not good.

The insurance companies are making hundreds of billions on the business in the US. They're spending a huge chunk of that to make sure we never have universal health care. They use scary words like "socialized medicine" so that the people won't support it, but I think more and more the people have lost the fear of that term. When you screw enough people over, they begin to realize that they aren't getting anything now, so socialized medicine doesn't seem so bad.

What frustrates me is that they won't put this to a vote, something that affects every person in this country, but they do put up gay marriage issues to a vote, which only effects 10% of the population (and should never be put to a vote to begin with).

What I forsee passing are healthcare plans on a state by state basis. Colorado has a strong movement and if it gets anywhere, all Coloradans would be covered.

This "socialized medicine" scare is something I admittedly don't get. It just seems incredible that anyone wouldn't want something as risky as healthcare covered by the state, especially in an age where chronic illnesses are on the rise.

State-by-state sounds viable. Once you get a few million people into the system, the infrastructure should be affordable with some subsidies from the state.
