A meme taken from [livejournal.com profile] flambeau

1. Leave me a comment saying anything random, like your favorite lyric to your current favorite song. Or your favorite kind of sandwich. Something random. Whatever you like.

2. I respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better.

3. You will update your LJ with the answers to the questions.

4. You will include this explanation and offer to ask someone else in the post.

5. When others comment asking to be asked, you will ask them five questions.

flambeau asked:

1, Have you ever wanted to burn a book?

Never. I am a biblophile, books are sacred. Even the wretchedestest of books has a kernal of insight to be glean from it.

2, Who was the last person you talked to for more than an hour?

That would be Lisa. We discussed moving to Canada and went on a trek to find books on the subject. Then we discussed how scary it was that you cannot buy such a book without getting your name on a list for Homeland Security. Each bookstore said they would happily order the books for us as long as we paid in advance and gave them all of our personal information. This enforced our desire to move away.

3, Do you feel that your life needs more structure, or less?

Less. A lot less. Like I feel the noose tightening a little more each day and I will surely die if I stay in my current lifestyle type less.

4, Which three places that you've lived do you miss the least?

Ohio in general is #1. I miss my family that live there, but not much else. I visit it once a year at Christmas for a week, which is plenty. It's so boring to talk about, I won't. I do not miss living in the dorms at Denver University. They were constantly doing construction next to my dorm room and I got asthma from all the dust. I also hated living in the suburb of Littleton outside of Denver. Very Stepfordish.

I miss New Orleans the most, I think, because I can't visit it anymore - at least not the places I knew and loved. I found out recently, however, that this old dive of a bar a friend and I used to frequent is still there called Monaghan's. The same guy owned Molly's at the Market, which is more touristy - but Monaghan's was more of a local's bar and you could bring a friend and get drunk for $20 total - a rarity in NOLA - and have a meaningful conversation with a prostitute (not as rare). I think of that place whenever I listen to the Velvet Underground banana album or watch a David Lynch film.

5, How long is your hair now?

It's about to the middle of my back, but it's got medium to longish layers in it, where as it used to be all one length when last we met.

True you ride the finest horse I have ever seen
Standing sixteen, one or two, with eyes wild and green
And you ride the horse so well, hands light to the touch
I could never go with you no matter how I wanted to

Ride on, see you, I could never go with you
No matter how I wanted to
Ride on, see you, i could never go with you
No matter how i wanted to

When you ride into the night without a trace behind
Run your claw along my gut, one last time
I turn to face an empty space, where once you used to lie
And look for a spark that lights the night
Through a teardrop in my eye

1. What is your favorite smell and why?
Natural vanilla. It reminds me of someone I was once in a torrid love affair with. Everything she wore was vanilla-scented.

2. Pick your favorite classic book. Now tell me the one thing you would edit it from it if you could.

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I would have Daisy die instead of Gatsby.

3. What's your favorite Beatles song?

I don't like the Beatles. Sorry. (Meep.) ^_^

4. Given the power of God(dess) to save one thing, what would it be?

The Earth, from the destruction we sent intent on wreaking on Her...

5. What non-fiction book would you write?

Beyond Ritual: How Wiccans Can Tap Directly Into the Universal Source.

Totally!!! And Tom too, so there's no chance of either of them reproducing.

Beyond Ritual: How Wiccans Can Tap Directly Into the Universal Source.

I'd so read this. Do you want to write any non-fiction?

I don't like the Beatles. Sorry. (Meep.) ^_^

Really? Not a single song? Ever? Anything for their solo careers? You know John Lennon was a good friend to Elton John *G*

re: Gatsby - yes, Tom totally needs to die. I see him as Thomas Hayden Church, somehow...a big lunk of a guy, a real meathead. ^_^
Re: Nonfiction - I've written articles and stuff. I'd prolly think about writing something like that...I was saying to a friend the other day, how after you've been practising magick for awhile, you sometimes abandon the traditional tools. I haven't owned an altar for ages. I don't know what that says about me. ^_^
Re: the Beatles. I know! I'm horrible. Okay, if I had to choose one, probably John Lennon's solo stuff. I like a lot of the stuff from his Double Fantasy album, like "Woman" and "Starting Over" and that one about sitting watching the wheels go round and round. That one. :)
