We dropped 30 students out of classes yesterday. About 20 of them were either regular military or reserve. Reason for dropping? Orders. They're being deployed. I can't help but feel a little scared and sad for them. There are those saying "They knew the risks when they signed up. . ." But you know, I'd hope we, as the people they're defending, would take a little more care of these men and women that have agreed to defend us and not send them off to face God-knows-what for a cause less than defending life and freedom.

I think this is a movie very deserving of the nominations - possibly the only movie I really feel a connection to this year. I would have liked to have seen nominations for Best Actor and Screenplay, but I suppose for an indy film, I should be happy for the 6. And I really did love the soundtrack - hope that wins along with Salma =)
Madonna will be the first artist signed by a major label to release an anti-war song and video. Madonna Aiming for Anti-War Statement - of course she's getting bashed in the media for it, though I'm pretty sure Madonna counts on that sort of thing. I'm ambivilant about this. On one hand - Madonna. People might discount it just on that fact. On the other hand, it's anti-war sentiment getting out in the limelight. Hmmm, we shall see.
