Okay, got this from [livejournal.com profile] flambeau

The last five fics I wrote and what I think they say about me. . .

All of these are GW:

All Along the Watch Tower - First person, past tense, gen fic, canon vignette

Good Tidings - Third person limted omniscience, past tense, PG slash 1+2, Christmas fic.

Half-Time w/ [livejournal.com profile] damoyre - Third person limted omniscience, past tense, PG slash 2+3, Games series.

Light as a Feather - Third person limted omniscience, past tense, PG slash 3+5 (maybe), weirdish.

A Crack in the Doorway - Third person limted omniscience, past tense, canon vignette, deathfic/suckfic

I guess this says that I don't like to write in the present or future tense and I tend to give the perspective of only one character. I prefer drama to action or sex and though I tend to give each fic slashish elements, they more resemble gen-fics. Four of them are also rather short - so I tend to write with small bursts of energy lately. The long fic was written with a co-author and she did most of the work *g*.

Two of the fics I really hate - they seem rushed and with little point to me (All Along the Watch Tower and A Crack in the Doorway). Good Tidings - shows that I have a sweet streak and Light as a Feather that I still like a little madness with my fiction.

The last five fics are definately not my strongest fics. I don't know if this means I just don't have the time to write or if I'm running out of steam. Of all of them, I think Light as a Feather is my best offering this year, followed by Half-Time (again, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] damoyre).

I've got a few large fics brewing - we'll see where things go with them.

Well, for a Monday today wasn't so bad. I feel better than I have for the past three weeks. I'm still slow on this eating thing - but I've not felt queasy at all today, so I'll take it.

We got our performance reviews today and I got all high marks with a few "above and beyonds" - so I'm very happy with that =) Here I thought I was going to get yelled out for screwing around with LJ at work ;) Anyway - looks good for a small merit raise in the coming year. Should just about cover the money I'll be putting into my retirement plan - woohoo!

In addition to our mega epic fic [livejournal.com profile] damoyre and I are tossing around, I'm trying to talk her into a Heero/Wufei fic. Of course, I'm not sure which character I should write, since neither come easy to me - maybe I should just get out of her way and let her do it ;) Seriously, the past few days I've been feeling very Wufei-ish. Watched Endless Waltz again and felt a sudden connection to him and all his frustrations with humanity. Makes me want to pick up a sword, storm Washington and cry out "And I will become evil itself to stop you!" Too bad I don't have a Gundam. . .

Here's a question: Writing fics in the second person. I've got to say, I find reading second person fics as enjoyable as chewing glass. I understand that people want to be experimental, but - well - I've never seen this method used successfully in fanfic. If anyone out there can explain why they use it and/or why they think it's effective, I'd like to hear it. Also, if you can leave a link to a fic you think uses the technique well. Thanks =)

Last on my random thoughts of the day - fanon. There seems to be three camps out there. Those that use fanon as their fic writing bible. Those that are so zealous against fanon that they wipe the canon out the characters and plot right along with it till everyone is OOC and plot resembles nothing from the series. And finally, those that mind their own writing and don't get caught up with what everyone else is doing. We need more people in the last camp.
