My one day of rest is over and I'm back at work. Yesterday was probably more productive than when I'm actually well. I got a fic beta done for Avarice. If you're a GW fan and like Duo and Trowa on friendly terms, go read Armchair Psychology. Read her other fics in this series at Facades - Godliness is next to Cleanliness and Open All Hours.

I also did a major clean of the kitchen because I was getting clausterphobic. I'm amazed at how much counter space there actually is. Note to self: put major appliances away when not in use.

If I did anything else, I don't remember it. So, here's to that drug of forgetfulness - no, not NyQuil - Benadryl.

So I have this fic I'm writing but don't like very much at the moment. I looked at it a few times yesterday and couldn't bring myself to work with it more. There's a writing block there that I can't seem to get over. Not happy at all about this, not at all. I think that makes six fics that are sitting around twiddling their thumbs wondering when I'm going to start paying attention to them.

Now I'm talking with students that have no idea of how to navigate a website. You know, as websites go, ours is pretty coherent and easy to follow. I don't mind guiding and helping people to find things, but I'm fairly certain the past three students I talked to are illiterate and can't follow instructions.

Me: Go to myuniveristy.mu.edu
Him: Okay, I'm there.
Me: Okay, go to the bottom of the page. Find the "My MUWeb" link.
Him: I don't see it?
Me: Okay, are you at myuniveristy.mu.edu
Him: Yeah. It's no where on this site.
Me: Sir, look at the url at the top of the page and tell me what it says.
Him: www.mu.edu
Me: Okay, remember when I said to go to myuniveristy.mu.edu? Yeah? Well, I actually meant it.

I should have taken another day off and cleaned the living room. . .

Song that...

Reminds you of an ex:

Control, by Poe. The song came out long after the breakup, but I always think of the ass when I hear that song.

Makes you cry:

Pan Jesi Kristos Bohem - A Slovak religious song sung during the Easter vigil Mass at my church. Don't know why, but I always lose it when I hear it.

Reminds you of high school:

The Joshua Tree (album) - U2, Add it Up - The Violent Femmes, Big Time - Peter Gabriel, Synchonicity (album) - The Police, Take on Me - a-ha. You'll Dance to Anything - The Dead Milkmen.

Reminds you of childhood:

Anything by Micheal Jackson, Madonna and Phil Collins. And oh yeah, Wham! They were the big names when I was in grade school - though I started getting into my sister's music when I hit the 8th grade. Sis is three years older and got into the alternative scene in High school, so I was ahead of the game - The Clash, Bowie, Femmes and the Police started wedging their way in then.

Mirrors true life a little too closely:

The Slime - Frank Zappa,

Makes you laugh:

Bobby Brown - Frank Zappa

Will always get you up to dance:

Pop Song 89 - REM, I Can't Be With You - Cranberries, Interesting Drug - Morrisey

You used to hate but now love:

Janice Joplin. I could never figure out why the hell she was anything special. But I was sitting in a bar in New Orleans one night and someone played Down on Me and I was hooked to her for quite a while. I guess atmosphere can have a lot to do with what I like to listen too.

You like out of your parents' record collection:

God, I should know these artists, but I can't remember their names - these are from old 45 records: Sixteen Tons. Drink, Drink, Drink (from an old movie called The Student Prince). I'll Be Seeing You. Hey Jealous Lover (Dean Martin).

You love that you wouldn't know about if it wasn't for a friend:

Haunted (album) - Poe. My friend Nick made me listen to it while on a road trip and I fell in love with this group on the spot.

Makes you think of sex:

Godlike - KMFDM. Have no freaken clue why, I think it's the beat. And that it reminds me of Duo Maxwell and he makes me think of sex ;) Um, every other Tori Amos song reminds me of sex. . .

Is your anthem:

Singapore - Tom Waits
