1. What is your lineage? Where are your ancestors from?
Slovak/Croatian - Dad is 100% Slovak, mom is half Slovak half Croatian.
2. Of those countries, which would you most like to visit?
I've been to Croatia before - so Slovakia would be first on the list - plus I have friends to visit in the Czech Republic, so I can make it one big trip.
3. Which would you least like to visit? Why?.
I'd not go back to Croatia at the moment - a little too fragile a government right now - though I suppose if it were with a work-study program for volunteer work, then maybe.
4. Do you do anything during the year to celebrate or recognize your heritage?
My family is huge about Slovak traditions. Christmas and Easter are the big deals - special foods, special customs for church, songs and all that. I feel wrong if I'm not home in Ohio to celebrate the holidays. I think other than that, funerals and weddings are the only thing that really touch on the ethnicity.
5. Who were the first ancestors to move to your present country (parents, grandparents, etc)?
On my Dad's side, his father came over here from Slovakia, but his mother's family had been here one generation previous. My grandmother's marriage was arranged before my grandfather came over. On my Mom's side, her great grandma and pa came over from Croatia, I'm not sure how far back they go on her dad's side - they were here for a couple generations though.
