So I was directed to the MTV site to see the Elijah Wood episode of Punk'd. I never watched the show before, but I know the premise of pulling off a practical joke on an unsuspecting celebrity. Cool enough. But having watched this one... are they all like this? It just seemed mean spirited to me. Granted, I thought the last bit with the cop was rather funny. I thought they could have done the whole segment on how it's illegal to smoke and drive in the state of California, and that would have been hilarious. Maybe hauling Elijah downtown on a smoking and driving offense, while he racks his brain trying to figure out when that law was enacted and why the hell he didn't know about it. But the first part. Damn. It was like ripping wings off a butterfly.

So based on this, not a fan of Punk'd. Though to show what sort of biased person I can be, I'd have to admit to finding it funny if they did something like this to Tom Cruise. Perhaps it's some morbid fascination to see if his head would explode or if he'd spontanously combust or something.

Yeah, they're all pretty much the same sort of thing. Some are kind of funny. I think it depends on the trick.
