You know things are bad when the silverlining your talking about is that people all over the country are getting extremely pissed. But pissed is where we need to be right now. I just got off the bus where a very lively conversation was going on about how much the government at every level fucked up. People are finally starting to see the war effort and all this Homeland Security bhuhaha for the total bullshit it actually is. People were fuming. One man was asking us "So do YOU feel safer now?" What Katrina taught this country is that faced with disaster, no we really couldn't respond to it. All those scenarios of terrorists running amok with dirty bombs? Guess what. Loss of confindence that the government or military could actually even start responding to it before the week was out. Need 40,000 troops? We can give you 7,000. Don't worry, they're well trained in urban warfare from all that time they spent in Baghdad.
People are being smart. They understand that there should have been a system in place to get people out of the city. They understand that money, materials and personal that should be used to keep this country safe has been diverted over seas to a place that really wasn't a treat to us. They don't believe people like Michael Brown. If the people of the 46L bus in Denver could figure it all out on their own - you better believe the rest of the country can figure it out. The Bush system of government is breaking down. It's just to damn bad we had too lose an entire city before people woke up. If anything comes of this at all - it will be to break this insane troll logic that held our country in a vice grip since 2000.
So way to go people of the 46L! I'm glad I decided to leave the earphones at home today.
