You know what nobody really needs right now? Assessing blame. The Mayor's blaming the fact there's no coordination between the the different relief efforts; FEMA's blaming Homeland Security for snatching all their funds and the Bush Administration for diverting funds for securing the levees to the war in Iraq; the Army Corps of Engineers is blaming the underpants gnomes. Know what people? Act of God. Instead of staying awake last night trying to locate the right scapegoat, why don't you all just do your jobs? You can't do anything to correct administrative problems right now, so lets focus on what you *can* do and work from there. Yeah, there are REAL legitimate issues at hand and they WILL need addressed - but right now getting people off roofs, establishing proper shelters and being proactive in stopping typhoid and cholera epidemics should be the only concerns right now. We can bitch about how the government sucks next week.
(Edit - I was not talking about US - you and me - criticizing the government's handling of the situation. I speak of the different government organizations shifting blame on each other. There are a lot of dirty hands in this mess from all branches and levels.)
