Found this VERY useful form for parents and student who do not want their private information turned over to military recruiters. As some of you know, Bush's No Child Left Behind Act is a guise for military recruitment. In addition to the form, the site also lists sites on student's rights and the typical lying that goes on to up recruitment.

Federal public law 107-110, section 9528 of the ESEA, " Act" requires school districts to release student names, addresses, and phone numbers to military recruiters upon their request. Students are then called at home by recruiters and pressured to join the military. The law also requires the school district to notify you of your right to Opt Out from this by requesting that the district not release your information to military recruiters. The completion and return of this form serves as your request to withhold your private information.

If you have kids in school, I'd urge you to at least take a look at the site. Even if they're not in highschool, if the school is receiving money from the program, the student's names and records are turned over to the military. This means they can track student's grades, extra curricular activities - anything in the student record. They can estimate what kids would be more easily swayed into joining the military.

See, this brings up my fickle feelings for the military. For, though a pacifist, support the troops whole-heartedly and I despise the politicians who make us go to war while they and their families avoid serving their country...
