Well, it's been about 8 years, but when it rains it pours. I think the only show I've watched with any regularity is Queer Eye, and that's only when I remember that it's on. Other than that, it's a few shows of interest on the History Channel and maybe A&E or Discovery here and there. But now I've found two shows to be addicted to this fall.
I tuned into Lost because, well... Dom! And found that I not only love him in the show, but just about all the characters. Nicely written. I just want to learn more about these people. And I adore Sayid. Gutsy move. That could have been played very bad if they didn't have good writers, but it came out wonderfully.
Whilst watching Lost, I saw the commercial for Boston Legal. Not only did it have James Spader, but it had Bastard!James Spader. So I watched that last night and was immediately hooked. Never would have thought to pair James Spader with William Shatner, but damn, they're good together. William as a shallow asshole. Who'd have thunk? But he's great in the show and he's been redeeming himself with those Priceline commercials. I will admit, I'm a sucker for shows with asshole character that do more good by being bastards than the morally upstanding characters achieve with all their good intentions. I hope to god the writers don't try to make the characters grow by making them nicer or more sympathetic.
So my recs for the new fall season are Lost and Boston Legal. I see much potential in fandom for both of them *g*

Lost is fun. Watch it and write fanfic with me. Fiend.

I was amazed at Lost. I expected to love Charlie. I didn't expect to be immersed in the world. And to be far more intrigued by characters such as Sayid, Locke and Kate than our drugged out rock star. I can't remember anything on the small screen like this, on the big screen maybe Pirates of the Caribbean just for amazing 3 dimentional characters.
Boston Legal was good, but not on the same level as Lost. Again, credit the writing, but I wonder too if they're pulling their punches. I'll give it a few more espisodes for potential, but I hope they really let their hair down and elevate from Snarky! to downright outrageous. Certainly the potential is there.

AND I saw the advert with Bastard!James Spader and I lurrrrrrrrrve James Spader, I am so down with the Spader love. LOVED him in Stargate (movie) but also love Michael Shanks in Stargate SG-1 (dammit, Daniel, get on the stick already and jump Jack's bones!) so am torn! between watching Bastard!James and grading horrendous first-year papers, full of errors about Christopher Columbus circumcising the world.
As Dr. Evil said, "You know, that old chestnut."

I also have another character in there who is strongly inspired by Severus Snape, from the Harry Potter universe.
Weird, no?

I think the last time I was actually addicted to a show was Northern Exposure.

At the risk of sounding completely geekly, the stuff I watch is mainly aired on our sci-fi channel, "Space."
