Well, I got word back yesterday. I did not get the job after my second interview. Though it was explained to me that I gave an excellent interview, it's just that a woman that worked in the office a few years ago applied for the job as well and she knew all the runnings and nuances of the office. Had she not applied, he assured me I would have gotten it. He encouraged me to apply for another job in athletics and that he'd be happy to help if I wanted to use him as a reference. Not bad, I guess. There's another job in athletics that has opened up that I'm qualified for. Even has "manager" in the title. So, why not? I'm going to apply and put him down for a refernce.

I was iffy of this job after the second interview anyway. The ins and outs looked a bit chaotic. And when I asked questions to get specifics, the answers were rather vague and uninformative. Much more than my answers to them were, I was a little alarmed ;)

The other job is something like "recreation manager." I like the sound of that. I think it suits me well. I'm a master at recreation.

I also applied for admin assistant to the vice provost of multicultural excellence. Along with all my computer and admin skills, I beefed up the buzz on my cultural anthropology degree. Couldn't hurt. They want someone with a good understanding of cultural diversity, and I have a degree to prove it. I said I knew Access (since they listed that as a plus), which isn't a total lie, but I think buying a book to refresh the aging information in my brain might be in order. For that matter, I think I've forgotten most of the formulas I learned in Excel - better work on that too.

So that's over with. I can concentrate on vacation for a week. It's snowing here now. Big storm rolled in last night. Florida is sounding better and better all the time :)

Got the clothes washed, all the accessories are bought, most of my suitcase is packed, the dog is safe at the sitter's and the kitchen is clean. All I really have to do now is clean up the rest of the house a bit and get to the airport. Provided we don't get snowed in, which is unlikely considering the roads are clear and the storm should move out before tomorrow morning, I'm off!

Have a safe trip, and a great time! ^_^

(and good luck with the other applications, too)

Have a safe trip and lots of fun!

I hope we get to talk more when you get back. It's been crazy in the office the last few days... but I really miss you. *HUG*
