Okay, I'd banned myself from fandom snarkiness for a while, since I'm striving to be a nicer person and people should be able to live without hostility in their hobbies and on and on. But I've got some general snarkiness to vent and in the interest of being neighborly and sharing, I'm posting this to my LJ. . .

People who post incoherently in my general direction are going to get this standard reply:

When monkeys wept in carpools up the flower pot tango wench.

Second, in the Pirates of the Caribbean fandom, this title has reached it's quota: A Pirate's Life (for Me)

Further use is going to drive archivists insane and they will randomly rename them to titles like "Fred" and "Bob" (which may actually work for this fandom. . .)

Maybe if the "Fred" and "Bob" are preceded by a hearty "Ahoy!" or "Avast!".

There's only a finite amount of titles that aren't bizarre Yoda-speak or obscure song lyrics, so it's only natural that people repeat themselves--albeit, yes, highly annoying and confusing.

Of course, I was the *first* person to use "A Pirate's Life" as a title. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

May I write a PotC story and title it "Aftermath"?

Gotta disagree with you there. Been in this fandom gig for 8 years now and English language allows for quite a diverse amount of titles that aren't gibberish. But you're right, people are going to repeat themselves . . .

Heh, I'll go look for "Avast, Fred!" in the archives ;)

No, that is taken. But you may use "Through a Glass Darkly #17".

I've been in the fandom gig for about eight years myself and, lol, I guess I'm giving the hoi-polloi fandom masses far, far, FAR less credit for originality than you are. *grin*. Can we at least praise be to the fic gods that they're not using Sarah McLachlan lyrics?

It's "Ahoy, Bob!" actually. ;)
