It's doubly frustrating when you're giving them a url and they don't understand remedial computer language. "What's a url? It goes where? What's a web browser?" ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH! It wouldn't be so bad if they'd just let me send them the info via fax or snail-mail, but they want me to teach them. And while I don't mind answering a few questions for people, I do not have the time to teach people how to use their computer. What's with people? "I don't know how to use my computer so I'll ask the registration office at my university" ? That's what the computer help desk is for, people. Use a directory.
Okay, that's the vent for the day. On to The Friday Five:
1. As a child, who was your favorite superhero/heroine? Why?
Snoopy. He's a superhero when he's fighting the Red Baron, how many dogs can do that?
2. What was one thing you always wanted as a child but never got?
Oh, the list is long. Mostly I wanted a computer, but didn't get one till I was a sophmore in college and it was a crappy 386 when the rest of the world was using pentium. DOS was my friend. But it did the job I needed at the time. Sort of.
3. What's the furthest from home you've been?
Yugoslavia. Back when it existed. The place I stayed was in Bosnia-Hertzegovnia. But I saw Dubrovnik and Monstar as well, both now located in Croatia.
4. What's one thing you've always wanted to learn but haven't yet?
Calculus - any advanced math really. For purposes of understanding physics and astronomy better.
5. What are your plans for the weekend?
Ha! Hrm. Maybe clean, read, write and watch a movie. Woohoo!
