Army Dismisses Gay Arabic Linguists

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Nine Army linguists, including six trained to speak Arabic, have been dismissed from the military because they are gay. The soldiers' dismissals come at a time when the military is facing a critical shortage of translators and interpreters for the war on terrorism.

After reading this article, I was surprised to find out that Arabic linguists had a higher occurance rate of homosexual behavior than the Koreans or Chinese. And I guess all of our French, Italian and German translators are straight - or just better at the "don't tell" part.

Too bad Esperanto never quite caught on. . .
