Happy Halloween!

The Halloween work party went great! Just about everybody dressed up and about 40 people showed up for my Haunted New Orleans presentation complete with PowerPoint slides *g* I keep getting compliments on the presentation, so I guess everyone enjoyed it =)

My jambalaya got demolished, so I'll take that as a sign that people liked it *g* We had great food: shrimp etoufe, butternut squash soup, red beans and rice, chicken made to look like creeping hands, kitty litter cake, veggies and fruit - good eats!

Looks like we get to go home early too =)

you got a work halloween party! at my work, nobody even brought in goodies! i thought for sure somebody would at least spring for kroger cupcakes or candy corn or something but nobody did. i at least dressed up, unlike anybody else. got a very short and tight crickle-fabric thrift shop goth dress along with the orange polka dot tights i got in germany. together with the spiked blond hair and bright red lipstick, it was quite an outfit -- made me look like a nice dutch or russian whore i guess :) the funninest thing was walking to and from work, since it seems the supportive (long-legged) undies i'm wearing are slippery enough fabric to make my dress ride up -- way WAY up, to the point where i basically walked to work in a coat with no bottom but my black lace undies, he he. surprising there was a very "new york" reaction to this, a.k.a. nobody really noticed. despite that, i was very self-conscious about it, trying to make at least a few inches of the dress show under my coat. got to at leat try to appear decent :)

meanwhile i'm at my friend's work on some random computer, waiting to go out to dinner with him and another friend. i figure i'm all dressed up and have no food in the fridge (seeing as i was gone the past six days), so i should go out. i want some pumpkin pie and cider!

I guess they didn't do anything at the office last year (it was about a month before I got hired), so the luncheon I threw got everyone's brain churning and before we knew it, it turned into a full blown halloween bash complete with judges for the costumes *g* Everyone was so stuffed with food, they closed all the offices down early. I don't think we got a single thing done at work that day.

My advice is to mention something about food and "what are you going as" about a week before Halloween. Once people start thinking about it, it's usually a done deal *g*

Lets see if I can get this right. . .

You get a litter pan and liner. Then you mix yellow cake, german chocolate cake and some pudding and mix it all. The you break up some shortbread cookies on top of it and something green (not sure what that was, but it was suppose to make it look more like litter). The to top it off, you get tootsie rolls and nuke 'em in the microwave and place them on top the cake to look like kitty poo. Serve with scooper. A clean on, please.

The cake is truly disgusting to look at - but it taste REALLY good *g*

Too many! Till every sat down with their food, I had like 35 minutes to talk - the Lalaurie story alone is 20 minutes! So I had to cut them all down a bit - but everyone liked it still =)

Thank you very much, but I don't think you need to: my best friend will be here after 4 weeks, so he'll bring me some food! :D

You seem to be having a time of it over in England.

Yes. Which is weird for me, because I have always had the best time when I went abroad and I didn't find it that bad 5 years ago (I had spent 3 weeks in the South England as a tourist).
But I can't get used to the British drink/sex culture and to some other attitudes; and it's not only me, it's all the international students except the few US boys who are too young to drink in US! ;)
