Backtracking a bit, the Fourth of July was fun. I ate good food that was horrible for my health gleefully. I think I might have done the same thing Friday, but I really don't remember anymore. Funny, I actually don't remember Friday much at all. Must have been the terrible heat and the fact I walked a million miles to make sure my friend's cats were taken care of. Maybe that makes up for the fact that I ate all those unhealthy foods. One could only hope.

Saturday was the RenFair - I spent an ungodly amount of money on Saturday. While part of me is cringing, another part of me is giddy over the fact that I'm still not broke. I started out by buying my first RenWare outfit. I got this satiny white thing with puffy sleeves and yellow/goldish type lace. Over that I have a long gold bodace thingy. I must look important because apparently the King passed by and said hello. Unfortunately, I didn't quite hear him and I walked off to look at the cool pottery in a shop nearby (I'd say "shoppe", but all out war has been declared on the "e" - thank you Buffy fandom!).

So everyone is appalled that I blew off the King - I was trying to be all cool-like and spout on about the violence inherit in the system, and of the qualities of rebellion and the American spirit, when really I just wasn't paying attention - which come to think of it, might actually be the American spirit. . . Anyway, I finally get a very rich and powerful man to nod at me through my snazzy dressing for success, and I blew the guy off. Figures. Later, I bought a nice little floral head band thing that was made of white and gold fake flowers. I felt better then. All and all the outfit looked very nice. But not complete. . .

From there I passed by a jewely shop selling handmade brass stuff, so I bought a nice little Pan necklace with leaves and grapes and green beads. I was happy. I was done buying.

Or so I thought.

I then passed the chainmail guy and this gold and green (it's a theme, yes, yes!) slave bracelet demanded I buy it or pay a dear price later, possibly my first born. So not taking any chances, I bought it. You have to take these things seriously.

If that wasn't enough, I got my own little medallion pressed and two new silver rings - one of them being a puzzle ring that I only now figured out so it's not longer a medal clump on my finger, which is rather more comfortable I have to say.

Due to the dress, I've now got an interesting pattern of sunburn on my back - and I used sun block, I was good. Didn't matter. I think the chailmail headdress got pissed off that I passed that one by and it decided to scorch me.

Anyway, I've decided that if I ever get married I'm going to wear that outfit - because I paid freaken enough for it. Though it was pointed out to me that I might offend the Church if they figure out the necklace is Pan, so maybe a civil ceromony - but then that would freak my mother - so maybe I just won't get married ever - God, you just can't please people!

Got the coveted turkey leg! They ran out and I waited in line damn near 20 minutes, but God, it was SO worth it! Best turkey I've had in many years. And the woman at the counter was good enough to do origami for us while we waited. She made the standard crane and then a kangaroo. I was thoroughly impressed that she could do it under the pressure of 50 or so starving peasants all grumpy because of the non-heat friendly costumes they chose to wear that day combined with the lack of turkey legs they've waited an entire year to get.

I was pretty good at the fair food-wise. Had the turkey leg, yes, and the apple cobbler with ice cream, but that's all I ate at the fair. We just won't mention the Chick Filet afterwards. . .

So all and all a good time was had at the RenFair.
