What Psych-Ward do you belong to?
Okay - here it goes:
1. Bad characterization. And don't try telling me that there is no real "In Character" fics, unless you're really into postmodernism and you believe things like in no two moments are you the same person. You'll have to provides me with the backup for that. Anyway - fanfic writers cannot write more to the canon, this is true - the canon is fixed - but they can certainly write IC, otherwise there would be no point to facfic at all. There are qualities that are part of the characters. If a writer pays attentions to the characteristics in the canon and utilizes them in their writing, chances are they'll write more IC characterizations than those who don't care to pay attention, or are simply not good at picking up the nuances.
2. People who believe the best writers in a fandom happen to be the same people that founded fandom. Sorry folks, but that's not how it works. I've been one of the founders of a fandom and I've walked into others a few years into them. I can tell you from experience, there is no correlation between the date you joined a fandom and how good a writer you are.
3. Allah. Okay, not in general, I mean people who write Quatre running around saying "Allah" every two seconds. Muslims do not use the name of God like this. Please stop doing it before Quatre goes Zero on you for blaspheming.
4. Lemons. They're not annoying per se - I can enjoy a good PWP with the best of them - but thrown gratuitiously into a fic and it's a complete turn off. Sex in fiction should have some purpose to the plot, unless again, it's a PWP. It should also be written with more than a 5th graders knowledge on the subject. I'm not saying that a person that has never had sex can't write about it - but they need to at least do some research. Either experiment a little with yourself or get a good sex manual. And if you're writing slash or yaoi - get a gay sex manual or talk to your gay friends. DO NOT copy or get your insiration from romance novels. People, please, don't do this to us.
5. People who take other peoples fics and continue them without asking first. If you ever do this to me or my friends, I will hunt you down and plaster your idea stealing ass all over the internet as a thief. So don't do it.
