My entire department is a bunch of freaks. Today as I'm waiting for the bus, my anti-social professor sits down next to me and won't acknowledge my existence. I'm not offended, as Fred won't talk to any students outside of the class room setting. It's odd, he's a GREAT speaker, very lively and energetic. People love to take his classes. But outside of class he turns into Michigan J. Frog. He looks down and won't even make eye contact. So now I feel I need to find an alternate route because I feel like I should say hi because I know him - but I know he won't look at me. I can't deal with this conflict at 7:30am. . .

For the record, professors should never EVER be allowed contact with student with regards to anything admistrative. My experience has taught me that only 1 time out of a 1000 do they ever give correct information no matter how confident they act. To all you on my friend's list starting back to school, take heed: if your professor tells you anything adminstrative that doesn't pertain to the subject they teach, CALL THE REGISTRARS OFFICE TO CONFIRM.

For reasons I've always failed to understand, most professors do not know any university policies, yet like to talk as if they do. Doesn't matter how many times you send them reminders and updates, they still get it wrong. Which pisses me off as many of them get in a huff if students do not follow instructions to the letter. Wrong admistrative information hurts students and causes a nightmare for the staff to clean up. There needs to be repercussion for faculty that don't follow proceedure =P

Of course I'm ranting because this just happened with a student that decided to get a lawyer involved because a grade turned to an F when the prof told them that they didn't have to call the registration department to drop a class, they'd just mark off "I" for incomplete. HELLO???? Incomplete means the student has to complete the course within the year - it's just an extension. I need to beat the next instructor I come across. . .
