So now we're officially at blizzard. Officials are calling this a "perfect storm". I've been through a tornado, hurricane and now are real live blizzard. That leaves earthquake and volcano on the extreme weather list that I still need to experience. I seriously need to take pictures and post them. The sight outside is unreal. . . @_@

So I'm at home as only medical personal and snow ploughs are allowed on the road. Don't know if anything will be open tomorrow. They say the snow shouldn't let up till noon tomorrow. And then there's the question of will anything still be able to get through.

Total accumulation in the city is about 2 - 2 1/2 feet right now - they predict over 3 before it's all over. In the foot hills it's 3-4 ft depending on where you're at. Some places have as much as 5.

Crazy.
Denis Leary's Asshole song is playing in the back of my mind as some yahoo calls into the radio station to comment "How about that snow?" It's March in Colorado and we're in the middle of a blizzard. Odd, odd, odd, I tell you!

We're in a state of emergency and the national guard has been called out. And I forgot to buy more eggs on Monday whilst emergency provisions shopping. This means no serious baking is going to get done.

To the people calling in worried about their power going out and losing all their food - open a door in your house. Any door. What do you see? Everyone currently has their own built-in freezer. Nothing has to spoil.

Advantage of the blizzard - No war coverage beyond "Yeah, we knew this was coming, now back to a list of local school closings. . ." We'll get ours though. One country radio station here banned the Dixie Chicks. . . =P

We're about an hour from Bush's deadline and war with Iraq. I've spent the past few months in opposition to this eventuality and now that it's finally here, I don't really know what to say that won't sound trite in the face of those that will die.

I'm sorry. I don't approve of what the United States is about to do. I will continue to voice my opposition and do my part to bring about an end to it.

My friend in Latvia wrote to me today with this greeting, "Hello, denizen of fascist imperialist pigland." He meant it as a joke, but I couldn't help feeling a sense of sadness. According to him, the anti-Americanism in Europe right now is huge. We're doing bad things, yes, I understand this, but apparently in his neck of the woods, nothing American can be good. And it's very sad that this picture of us has been painted. When even those of us that stand against this war and this president are branded as bad because of where we happen to be born, then the hatred is blind and nothing good ever comes from that.

We will have to work very hard to repair the damage of this administration. It is, in fact, our duty as world citizens to show that we respect other nations and wish to live in peace with them.

Well, I'm off again tomorrow. They flashed across the news screen that only essential personal were to report to work tomorrow at my university. I believe they mean medical personal and security for the dorm students. . . maybe a dean here or there. But you never know. My personal belief is that essential personal all get paid more than I do. Not even time-and-a-half will get me out there tomorrow.

We're to get temps near the 60s on Sunday. . . bye-bye snow, hello flooding and mudslides! At least were out of the drought. . .
