The home stretch

Since my last real entry on March 25 I've written only 20 pages of thesis crap for a sum total of 72 down. I’m cutting it down to the wire. I have about 15 pages more to write and I think what I really want is a bullet through the head. My brain is doing a number on me right now and seems to want to block anything to do with Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson. I can’t say I blame it. I’ll have to figure out a way to override the self defense mechanism though, as it’s getting a little too close. Shit. Needs to be in by tomorrow night, come hell or high water. While I'm sure I'll get it done if I have to shove toothpicks in my eyes to keep them open, I was really hoping I'd be done by today so I could spend the rest of the time making grammatical corrections. Ah well.

Last night I was suffering from information overload and just couldn't figure out how to organize it. To be honest, anyone of these chapters could have been a thesis unto itself – the biggest headache has been shoe horning all the info into little chapter sized morsals. So far chapter 4 feels like someone threw 10 balls at me at once and I dropped them all. =P I tighened up what I wrote last night and I'm feeling better about it now than at 11pm, so here's hoping...

Well, off to write on the apocalytic administration of Ronald Reagan. The fun never ends.

May I suggest, with regards to your writing, making a rough list of the information you wish to include in each chapter? Once this is decided, all you have to do is write it up properly. It's just a thought, of course.

thanks for the suggestion. I actually do write out detailed outlines - it was just that with this particular chapter the information was all over the map. I had to figure out what should go where in order to create a workable outline.

Of course in the end I just winged it.
