What do you want for dinner, Steph? Whiskey. Thank you for asking.
I'm freaked. Just totally freaked out right now. It's about 10:30 here and I think I'm going to throw up. Colorado went to Bush. No shock. But the Senate race is narrowing and it looks like we may get a Democrat in the seat. Please, God, please. As God as my witness, I will never drink a Coors product all of my life.
Congress is in Republican control. This royally sucks. But it would be nice to break the Republican stranglehold in Colorado with a democratic seat in the Senate. My Congress woman for Denver won by a landslide, so there are little victories.
Ohio is the new Florida. Shit. I don't live there anymore, probably won't ever again. But it's home. And shit. 9 hours lines in Ohio. I haven't had a chance to call the fam there yet and I wonder what it's like for them right now. It's bizarre, I tell you. It shouldn't be happening. Ohio has been suffering under a horrid unemployment rate. Cleveland was at 33%. There are parts of rural Ohio that are at 60% - and they're voting Republican because they've been convinced that Kerry will take away their guns and require forced abortions and sex changes.
As for the anti-gay marriage amendments - FUCK whoever lobbied to get those on the ballots in 11 states. Any issue that involves the rights of a minority should NEVER be left up to the popular vote. That's called the tyranny of the majority, and we have a court system designed to protects the rights of minorities from that. Can you imagine where the civil rights movement would have went if we left the fate of African-Americans up to the states'popular vote? I hope to GOD the courts find a way to strike down the anti-gay marriage amendments as unconstitutional.
More whiskey, I don't think I can sleep....

I feel just great.
My poor rep. in Congress, John Lewis, is going to be like the lone voice of sanity, I swear to God...

As if ANY American President would ever do that! Then the US wouldn't be the US anymore. Some things can't change.

I'm still holding out hope for Ohio as many of the precincts not reporting are in North East Ohio, which is a democratic stronghold. I don't know why I'm holding on so hard... it's like I just need it to get to the next day. I don't remember being so drained from an election before =P
