You stupid, stupid, man - CNN: Bush campaign looks to organize churches
Jesus. What fucking arrogance! First he's telling the Pope what to tell Catholics, now he's telling the Protestants what to do. The good news is, a good deal of church leaders are appalled, not to say anything of the ACLU. The better news is that of his $213 million in campaign funds he spent all but $63 million only to see his job approval rating hit an all time low.
In a yet more appalling Bush idiocy, remember the No Child Left Behind Act he was tauting as his I-care-about-our-children! platform? It's used as a military recruitment list. "Well son, you're poor. So rather than get left behind totally, why don't you just leave an arm or leg behind in Iraq? Get money for college that way..." Now, this is actually old news if you're following the alternative media, but if you don't or you just missed that story in lieu of others, here are some links:

Speaking of Left Behind, has anyone else wondered if the title of that little Act had anything to do with Tim LeHaye's Left Behind series? Something like hiding in plain sight, maybe?
- WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- President Bush, seeking to mobilize religious conservatives for his reelection campaign, has asked church-going volunteers to turn over church membership directories, campaign officials said on Thursday.

Actually, I've read that somewhere, although I don't remember where. Hm, maybe it was Guardian.
