Looks like Cannes picked Michael Moore's new documentary, Fahrenheit 911, for competition next month. It's the second time a documentary has been choosen, the first being Bowling for Columbine. Way to go, Mike! Apparently he's got camera men in Iraq talking to the soldiers there, trying to get a real picture at what it's like for them. The movie should be released here in September, a nice two months away from election day.

Speaking of Columbine, the fifth anniversary of the shootings took place on April 20th. In Littleton they held a service, which I did not attend, as it smacked of a lot a prosylitizing and the thought of corrupting the memory of those kids like that made me ill - as it did a friend of mine that graduated from that school some years back.

Turns out we were right. Both local news and CNN waxed poetic on the survivors that found JÉSUUUUUUUS. It was icky. CNN interviewed one of the students that was Mormon. He wrote a book on the event and uses it to preach God's words when he goes on his converting missions. You have someone like Tom Mauser, father of a boy killed at the school, who has dedicated his life to being a gun control lobbyist, or the two survivors that were shot and helped Mike get K-Mart to stop selling bullets - and CNN chooses to interview the missionary. But then, I've never hid the fact that I hate CNN.

Other Mike news, there's another documentary in the works entitled Sicko where he takes on the health insurance industry. Considering that my insurance has just been hiked an extra $55 a month with no new benefits, while the service still sucks - I'm all for an exposé. . .
