It boggles my mind that the AFA tries to pass itself off as anything other than a hate organization. Though I guess you have to pity people that live in so much fear. Fear of gays, fear of minorities, fear of women with the same equal rights as men, and fear of the wrath of an unjust god. It's amazing these people can get out of bed in the morning with the fear they must live in daily. I suppose the thought of going out and correcting the wrongs of society must give them the steam to keep going. And Bush, gawd bless him, he offers aid and comfort to the cause (From ABC News: Bush Says He Could Back Gay Marriage Ban).

When is this nation going to peal off the mask of being a democratic nation with civil liberties for all and just called the spade by it's name? When religion rules over the law of humanity - that's a theocracy. Bush practically brandishes himself as world messiah. Why not? Many a powerful empire were actually theocracies. Babylon, Egypt, Assyria, The Holy Roman Empire, Byzantium, The Ottoman Empire - looks pretty appealing now, doesn't it?

Anyway --

I got this from [livejournal.com profile] versailles_rose: The American Family Association Poll & Petition

I urge people to participate in the poll and fill out the petition. The American Family Association wants to get gay marriage and civil unions banned. Their Poll and Petition is seriously warped, as most of the people participating are members of either this organization or an affiliate. But some others have found this little petition and as a result, 15% believe that gays should either have the full legal right to marry or have the right to civil unions with full benefits. 15% might seem small, but that's some 13,500 people so far according to their poll results. If we can up that percentage point a little more, that's an example of a nice margin of people that can really screw up the votes come election time. Remember, forgiving the fact Gore actually won the last election, 0.5% would have switched that Supreme Court appointment in his favor. Send a message that you do not agree with the movement to make a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage and that you're the type of person that votes.

Sad the amount of times I find myself using the angel tossing icon . . .
