So based on
wiebke's comments, I went to Amazon to read some of the reviews of Mater's Bl00d Canticle. Oh, I highly recommend that folks belonging to the
burnt_rice community check it out. I've never seen Mater get so many negative reviews. I'd have to say that a good majority of people have given it 1 or 2 stars. It's only because of a handful of die-hard fans giving her 5 stars that she's holding at an average of 3. Some of the the reviews are rather humourous. On both sides. I found this one especially funny:
Now, I dearly love the character of Holden Caulfield, but if Lestat is talking like an angstful teenage misfit from the 1950s, then we've got a serious problem here. Wonder if he thought it was crummy that Quinn was giving Mona Mayfair the time. Or if he finds it interesting that Rowan keeps all her kings in the back row. Actually, the thought of Lestat playing checkers amuses me all on it's own.
Oh Jesus. . . wonder if I can rewrite the VC as The Vampire in the Rye. . .
Well it looks like the reviews are going to be mixed. I love the new style and voice. It was risky from Anne's perspective to try something new. Everyone: this is a new and important perspective into Lestat's character. Come on! This is his first narrative since "Memnoch the Devil" and the voice had to change to reflect his evolution.
This book was well written despite what others say. The style actually reminds me a lot of Holden from "Catcher in the Rye." 5 stars, thank you very much.

If you could carry off one chapter of that, I will come through with my VC / KnightRider crossover idea (which has got to be a silly!)
