Forgiving the fact that way too many a person is caught up in the Big-Name Fan thing, I decided to take this quiz . . .

What Kind of Big Name Fan Would You Be?

brought to you by Quizilla

Now, the truth of the matter is, a BNF doesn't mean someone is a great writer in the fandom. The only thing it means is that one's name is well know. It could be because they happen to write great fics. It can also mean that one is just obnoxious enough to get their nose in every corner of the fandom. BNFs are not only writers, they're archivists, people that are vocal on fannish stuff, readers that are out spoken on fics, critics that scare the writers, et cetera. The BNF label also does not mean that a person is well liked. I can think of a few BNFs off the top of my head that most people know, but would rather not.

What makes a person BNF? Most people that are BNFs are so because, just what the name implies, they're well known in the fandom. They're name is mentioned, and you know who they are - or have at least heard of it before. At what point does one become a BNF? Some are self-proclaimed, others, well, you just know. Watch people and how they respond to the name (postive or negative).

So BNF is not something to be over excited about.
