I see a lot of my friends are participating in NaNoWriMo this year. Unfortunately, I don't think I have the energy to put forth 50,000 words this month. I also lack the idea for a novella - so instead, I think I will participate in another contest.

Writer's Digest is having their 3rd annual short-short fiction contest. My task is to write a decent 1,500 word story. Sounds easy, but it's not. Getting a working story down to 1,500 words takes edited talent - not sure I'm up to snuff on that, but I'm going to go ahead and give it a try.

There's also a FlashQuake Flash Fiction contest for 500 words - seems scary, but I might give that a shot too.
