your pseudonym:

Don't use it much, but if I join anymore fandoms it will be under the catscradle handle.

how long have you known about/read/written fanfiction?

Seven years.

what fandom(s) do you read/write/are you involved in?

Vampire Chronicles, Gundam Wing, Deep Space Nine, Buffy.

who is/are your favorite character(s)

Armand and Daniel from VC, Trowa Barton from GW, Garak and Bashir from DS9 and Spike and Anya from Buffy.

do you identify with certain characters?

Garak's sarcasm and Anya's inability to cope with blatant stupidity. Maybe Daniel too on some level I've not tapped into.

what type/genre of fanfic do you read/write?

Drama and humor. Slash, though it's usually incidental in my own writing.

why do you read/write fanfiction?

It's fun. I read it too relax and write it to keep myself occupied - or just get out a story that's in me and needs a home.

what are your favorite sub genres and why?

I might go for a certain pairing over another, but I don't normally look for a certain sub-genre. I guess if any, slice-of-life.

is there any kind of fan fiction you wouldn't read?

mpreg, teenie-fics, RPS, boy band slash.

do you prefer to read fan fiction online or in zines?

Online.

are you a member of a mailing list?

Many - though I read maybe 4.

if yes, do you participate actively on the list or do you prefer to 'lurk'?

I used to be active - I've ceased to care about them.

how actively are you involved in your fandom(s)?

I was extremely active in VC and moderately so in GW. Now I just lurk in all of them (even though I run a few groups and boards)

do you know other fans personally?

I know about 15 people from fandoms very personally. I've lived with a couple and I've met many in New Orleans.

do you have friends who read/write fanfiction?

If you mean RL friends, then no.

do you talk about fanfiction with your friends and/or family?

I've only discussed it with one friend not into fanfic. Family would freak.

how intensely are you involved with fanfiction/the fan community?

I was very involved in VC - met most of the fandom at the time. I was mod for some of the boards and organized a few things. I don't do much of that anymore.

do you attend conventions?

I'm attending my first this weekend because it happens to be in my city.

do you send feedback regularly?

If I read a fic and like it or an idea in it, I send feedback. I try to be constructive about it.

do you like to read AU stories?

If the writer has written a good story, then yeah. However, I don't find too many AUs to be down well.

how important is feedback to you?

No. I like it, mind you, but it's not dire that I receive it.

would you write even if you didn't get any?

Yes, and I have.

do you reply to every feedback/fanmail you get?

I try to - though I don't always have the time.

do you have your stories beta'd before you post them? if you do, do you think the comments/suggestions of a beta reader help your writing?

Yes, I always have a beta reader. And the two I use are wonderful - couldn't ask for better betas - I think a few fics were made because I listen to a beta.

in your favorite fandom, what are the major differences between canon and fanon?

Heh, the fanon is on crack. In GW, more the half of the writers base their knowledge on what other people have written. We've got some third generation have-never-seen-canon-source writers. In VC it's normal crap, Louis and Lestat's eternal love type stuff.

have you ever worked as a beta reader?

Yep.

if you beta, how frequently do you do that?

Whenever I get asked. Not often.

what is your primary motivator for accepting a beta reading assignment?

Being asked and given enough time to do the job right based on story length.
