So, I changed the color on the LJ just for a little variety. I'm thinking of redesigning my website now, as I can never give myself enough work to do. I'm also thinking of starting up a new website 'cause, what the hell? Haven't decided on the theme or what to call it, but it will consist of a small group writing some articles and friends getting the forum to bitch about whatever. Maybe we'll go commercial and start something like X-Entertainment (different theme, of course). My dream is to make money complaining about things I can do nothing about.
So I was walking to the store the other day and I was thinking about the ways my life doesn't suck - for a little change of pace. It really doesn't suck at all - not like I originally thought it might. In fact, I found a good number of things that I'm very proud of in my little attempt to walk through the valley of the shadows.
In no particular order. . .
1. I'm just a thesis away from my masters now. Never thought I'd get here, but here I am and I'm proud that I made it this far. Just a little more now to jump the last hurdle. . .
2. I've got a great job with the university with tons of room for advancement and a possible teaching position. The department I work in is very liberal, the staff is a group of the nicest people I've ever worked with - it's a professional environment without being opressive. I've got two weeks paid vacation the first year, four weeks the next year and after. 22 sick days. I'm happy.
3. I live in a city with great public transportation. I don't own a car, don't have to (though there are those that are very kind and offer me rides if the weather is bad or I'm feeling sick - thanks everyone!). But I do feel good that as a thirty year old, I don't own an SUV that pollutes the air and blocks the view of the rest of the traffic.
4. I didn't vote for George II.
5. I've got a group of the best friends, both cyber and real life. Leah, Andru, Lisa, Kris, Chris, DaMoyre, LA, Susan, Rose, Versailles - you people rock - thanks =)
6. This weekend - smoked turkey legs.
7. I have my own office at home.
8. Glowbug (my new guinea pig).
9. Aside from allergies and a few back aches - my health is good.
Okay, the bad things in my life
