You know, about a year ago I was having a discussion with Nick about possible tactics Bush may resort to in the 2004 election. So he gets the cigar for predicting this little move: Officials discuss how to delay Election Day
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- U.S. officials have discussed the idea of postponing Election Day in the event of a terrorist attack on or about that day, a Homeland Security Department spokesman said Sunday.
They're still citing Spain as they're reference for potentially pushing the election back. I highly doubt the rail attacks there made the people vote in any different way then what they were going to, but the US administration keeps insisisting that the attacks made the Spanish people vote for the government al Qaeda wanted (anti US, anti War).
The subtle undercurrent that is running through all of this is that a vote for Kerry is a vote for terrorism. Elections might have to be postponed, because, like in Spain, people will be afraid and vote for who the terrorists want... Kerry.
I think the main question here is do we want to live in fear of terrorism or live in fear of four more years of Bush?
Over this weekend I had a rather pleasant suprise. Mom informed me that she in no way was going to vote for Bush. She doesn't like Kerry, but can't see how he can possible fuck up the economy worse than what Bush did. She, like a lot of people, remember how much better we were financially during the Clinton years, so she's voting for her pocket book. I'll take it. And dad - dad who voted for republicans ever since Reagan - dad, who thought Bush was doing such a great job handling the whole terrorist thing - dad's voting for Kerry now. Also economic based, but he read the Michael Moore piece in Time and said - I had to sit down for this - he said, "You know, he makes a LOT of good points!" They're going to see F 9/11 this week.
So to those that thought Michael Moore and Fahrenheit 9/11 would only be of interest to those that were already firmly in his liberal camp, I present my parents as evidence to the contrary.

I also feel the need to quote Mrs. Lovejoy. "The children. Won't anyone think of the children."
Cause dude! DUDE! *says the non-californian* This is America, right ? Freedom, justice, non-dictatorship and all that ? Right ? I didn't blink or fart and end up in Chile or Cuba, right ?
