Cranky today. My day so far consists on answering questions for people that are incapable of reading for content. It's 11am and already I've had about 20 calls from people asking "How much does this class cost?" So I answer and then they say, "Oh, it's written right here I guess." Yes. In bold print too. Thank you for wasting my valuable goof-off time. Can't you people see it's December and no one wants to answer your dipshit I-can't-read-for-myself calls? Jesus, when am I suppose to shop the net for Christmas gifts if I have to talk to you people every 2 minutes?
Our Personal Enrichment program is going to be the death of me. The new brochures are just getting delivered to people and they're starting to call to register. Our project manager got the bright idea to market the classes as gifts for loved ones and friends. So people are calling to buy a gift of a class for a friend and they don't have most of the info we need to register the people. If we get incomplete info it can cause all sorts of problems - especially if they're already a student with the university. So I bring up the problem to the program manager when she asked for input and she gets all defensive about it because it's not something she anticipated.
I finally just had it out with her. Either she cares about problems we're having or she doesn't. So figure out which it is and stop wasting my fucking time with lip service. This program is just one of several we have to deal with and it cost a hell of a lot less than our legit students that are trying to earn a degree. And these people take 5 times longer to deal with because they seriously do not understand how a university works and we need to take a longer time explaining things to them and getting them set up.
To top it off, my voice is all hoarse so I'm not pronouncing things as clearly as I normally would over the phone. So people are calling me Bethany, which makes me twitch, or Becky - and I just don't get that one at all. I can't begin to understand how you get Becky from Stephanie. But there you go.
So this has been my morning and I'm cranky. Sorry.
I'm gonna try to see if I can preorder some RotK tickets so I can see it opening night. I am 52% geek after all.
