Friday - went out to see Once Upon a Time in Mexico. My thoughts on the movie as a whole was that. . . my god, it sucked. But that's as a whole. Taken on a part by part basis, I absolutely loved it. It's not because I'm a Johnny Depp fangirl that I say this, but Johnny's part rocked. It was completely worth the price of admission just to see him. The plot was just so hard to follow with it's convolution, that even die-hard El Mariachi fans had trouble with it. But Johnny was so thoroughly enjoyable, that I didn't much care. Without giving anything away, I will love him forever for the "is that my right or your right" line. I never get tired of that one ;)

As for the big spoiler plastered over the media - why oh why was that considered a good marketing ploy? I won't give away what it was here, but I saw it in several magazine articles prior to seeing the movie. Hell, I think Premier or People or some such magazine even points it out under the heading Major Plot Point. Christ, it's even on some of the movie posters. It would have made far more of an impact had they left it a surprise.

Started the beginning of a cold Friday night. Thank god they couldn't hear me sneezing over the gun play in the theater.

Satuday - full blown head cold. Stayed in bed mostly with a small foray to the grocery store. Rented Magnolia and Ed Wood. Magnolia, I think, is a movie with most potential, but can't quite follow through with the punch. Tis a shame because it's really good up until the end. And it needed more displays of synchronicity. Someone ought to tell the writer that just because people are interlinked, that doesn't make it a synchronicity. There has to be more to it. What amazed me is that he illustrates that he does know what it means at the very beginning with all the examples - so why aren't these people linked in the same way? It's way too subtle. How you get to the ending is so understated that the only thing going through my head was "What?". They should have contacted Robert Anton Wilson on how to do that right.

Sunday - Got up late. Found that the head cold had gone into the sinuses. If I feel this bad tomorrow, there will be no work. I'll have to go to the doctor and get an antibiotic.

Changed Glowbug's litter, walked the dog, crawled back into bed. Got back up around 11. Made a little breakfast, went back to bed. And here I am now. Astounding, isn't it?

Watching Ed Wood later today. . .

Interesting. . . I write like a man. Actually, I'm 50-50 according to this, just a few points more male than female, whatever that means.
My journal says I'm male.
